yellow square Experience and innovation

When Johannes Riege founded Riege Software International GmbH in 1985, he had already been involved in the development of software for the logistics sector for seven years. As a recognized expert in the industry, he combined profound software and programming knowledge with expertise in logistical procedures to meet the real requirements of clients. The family company has grown to an international organization from these beginnings, and today, with its extensive software solutions for air and sea freight processing as well as customs applications is among the leading providers in the industry. Forwarders, carriers and producing companies worldwide currently use the smart software solutions from Riege and trust in the company’s know-how, service and extensive support.

Riege Software International serves its 300+ customers around the globe through its subsidiaries in Europe, Asia and North America. Three data centres support customers’ individual cloud solutions. These facilities are in Meerbusch, the headquarters of Riege Software International, Frankfurt and in Hong Kong.

With the establishment of the company in Düsseldorf, Riege Software International introduced the Procars (Professional Carriage System) application to the market. Initially programmed on Datapoint, the software was later migrated to Unix and Linux. Over the years, Procars was successfully established in an industry environment characterized by expansion, and through continuing further development and innovation led to high customer satisfaction and long-term customer relationships.

Procars thus contributed considerably to the company’s continuous growth and its successful international expansion.

The development of a completely new transport management system began in 2006 under the direction of Christian Riege, one of three Riege sons now active in the company management. Launched by Riege in 2009, Scope® created an entirely new generation of logistics software with respect to user friendliness, system intelligence, functional depth and compatibility. It is an example of the consistent application of the corporate philosophy of Riege Software International, which integrates demand from the industry and the application of state-of-the-art technology.

yellow square Scope – unique performance depth

Scope combines functionalities developed from many years of experience with leadingedge software architecture. The result is a multifunctional solution where modules and components can be freely combined for airfreight, sea freight and for customs processes. Faster to implement, more efficient and multifunctional, Scope combines all the important functions of Procars with leading-edge software architecture.

The new solution is based on the industry standard Java Enterprise Edition and thus delivers scalability, availability and reliability. Thanks to integrated interfaces, Scope can be easily linked to existing customer systems, e-solutions or ERP modules to deliver a universal solution.

Scope maps all security requirements through a module that covers applicable ICS (import control systems) since 1 January 2011. Scope also supports the quality and sustainability efforts of IATA (International Air Transport Association) such as Cargo 2000 and e-freight initiatives with special modules.

The program has applications covering the complex functions of customs processing – all using the same user interface and with the same procedures for all formalities during import and export, invoicing and input of taxes. In addition to the German ATLAS system, Scope now offers systems certified by the respective customs authorities in Switzerland, the US and the Netherlands.

The system is available in German, English, French and Dutch language versions, and there is also a traditional and a simple Chinese version. Scope is used by many customers today as a cloud solution. With the integration of the WebSocket protocol in the spring of 2012, which is viewed by experts as the future standard for data transmission, Riege has further simplified and optimised its software-as-a-service solution (SaaS).

Riege Software International has been an active member of IATA’s Cargo 2000 quality management initiative since 2002. This system is intended to simplify procedures in the airfreight distribution chain and establish uniform quality standards. The transparent presentation of the performance of all members according to standardised KPIs (key performance indicators) enables independent measurement and objective valuation of services along the entire process chain. Riege Software International offers participants in Cargo 2000 a reliable Common Data Management Platform (CDMP). With the Cargo 2000 module, shipments can be checked and evaluated and reports and analyses created.

With its extensive functions, simple handling and the option of intergrating additional solutions such as ERP systems through its interfaces, Scope offers a previously unknown depth of service and is destined to provide a universal flow of information between all partners in air and sea freight.
